Saving money when going on vacation doesn't have to stop getting at good rate on a hotel room or an airline ticket. You can potentially save hundreds of dollars at home when going on vacation. When you go on vacation you don't need some of the services and amenities at home. You can save money by turning them off. Here is a list of things that you can turn off to save money while you are away traveling on vacation.

  • Reduce or Turn off DISH or Cable Service
  • Turn off Water Heater
    This one can be a big saver alone. You don't need your water hater to keep the water warm (unless you know you do) while you are away for days or weeks. Turn it off.
  • Car Insurance
    This is a tricky one but you can save money. Talk to your insurance agent because different policies cover cars differently.
  • Phone Service
    Evaluate if your communication needs will be same or more when you will be on your vacation. Adjust the service accordingly.
  • Unplug Appliances
    Unplug everything that you don't need. Even though your appliances are not on, they are consuming some power when they are plugged in. Common list of appliances is : Toasters, Dish Washer, Microwave, Clothes Washing Machine, Dryer, TV, VCR, DVD Player, Video Games, Computers
